The new practice now is when your ink absorber pads become full then you must return the printer to a Canon Service Agent, there is no way around it any more, if you can’t enter service mode yourself. It showed me the waste ink settings but would not let me reset the counter, although I had disconnected the feed tubes and re-routed them to an external bottle. Unless you’re able to enter service mode first, having the correct Service Tool won’t help in any way because this service tool only works on a printer that has entered the service mode condition. I spent hours online and eventually managed to download Canon Service Tool V4720.
